Construction association and Sage will release its 2024 Construction Hiring & Business Outlook during live media briefing on Thursday, Jan. 4 at 11 a.m. CST


New outlook to preview strengths and weaknesses in construction demand, need for new workers and firms’ planned investments in technology and AI for 2024

On Thursday, Jan. 4, at 11 a.m. CST, the Associated General Contractors of America (AGC) and Sage will release its national and state* construction hiring and business forecasts for 2024 during a virtual media briefing. The outlook reflects contractors’ expectations for demand for different types of construction and for hiring, their biggest challenges and their plans to invest in artificial intelligence and other types of technology for the year. It is based on survey responses from nearly 1,300 contractors across the country.

During the briefing, AGC of America’s chief economist, Ken Simonson, will share details of the outlook. AGC of America chief executive officer Steve Sandherr will detail steps public officials should take to support the growth of the construction industry in 2024, and Sage’s vice president of construction and real estate, Dustin Anderson, will provide an analysis of the industry’s technology expectations for the year. Construction contractors will be available to discuss their expectations for the year and local market conditions.

Angie McElhaney, 2024 Chair of The Builders, a chapter of the AGC Board of Directors, will speak to her perspective working for a top five electrical contractor and top five woman owned company in the Kansas City area for years per the Kansas City Business Journal.
